Two specialist domestic abuse agencies awarded Pembrokeshire Domestic Abuse Contract

Pembrokeshire County Council recently tendered for the provision of VAWDASV Housing Related Support
(Accommodation and Community Based), Calan DVS and Threshold DAS were successfully awarded the
contract to deliver these services.
Calan DVS and Threshold DAS is a partnership of 2 well-established specialist domestics abuse agencies who
have 110+ years combined experience within the VAWDASV Sector, both agencies have collaborated to form
Pembrokeshire Domestic Abuse Service (DAS).
Pembrokeshire DAS are dedicated to ensuring that all service-users are empowered to exercise maximum
choice/control over their lives and the support they receive. The trauma-informed service will always be led
by the needs and wishes of victims/survivors whilst keeping safety and understanding of risk paramount.
The service will support victims, survivors and perpetrators (community only) with varying levels of need
including those with higher and more complex needs.
This includes:
• Providing advice, information, guidance, practical and emotional support;
• Carrying out Assessment (needs and risk);
• Delivering tailored individual support;
• Providing tailored educational support;
• Delivering one-to-one support, based on an assessment of needs;
• Delivery group work programmes;
• Providing a platform for peer support;
• Signposting to appropriate positive activities.
In addition to the aforementioned services, Pembrokeshire DAS, as a partnership, will deliver a wide range
of additional specialist DVA support services, programmes and interventions which will further support those
accessing our accommodation and community support, these include:
• Own My Life/Voice – Female recovery programmes.
• Compass – Male victim recovery programme.
• Myriad – LGBTQ+ victim recovery programme.
• Specialist support for children and young people.
• Education and training for service users, communities, agencies and professionals.
• Perpetrator programmes.
• Sexual Violence support/counselling.
Michelle Whelan, Chief Executive of Calan said: “Calan DVS and Threshold DAS are delighted to have been
successfully awarded the Housing Related Support Contract in Pembrokeshire. As the lead organisation for
this contract, Calan DVS will work closely with our partner Threshold DAS to ensure the service is accessible,
needs-led, and trauma informed. We will also work closely with wider partners to ensure there is a cohesive
approach to providing support to victims/survivors across Pembrokeshire, including the Dal I Godi IDVA
Service”.
Vicky Pedicini, Chief Executive of Threshold DAS said: “We are honoured to have received this opportunity
to deliver a domestic abuse floating support service in Pembrokeshire, whilst working alongside our
partner, Calan DVS.
We will continue to do all we can as an organisation to centre the needs of vulnerable individuals and their
children and make a first-class support services accessible to them.”
Cllr Michelle Bateman, Cabinet Member for Housing Operations and Regulatory Services, thanked previous
providers Stori Cymru and Pobl for all their work over the last ten years or more, and welcomed the new
providers of the service.

Mid and West Wales Safeguarding Board that all people in Pembrokeshire and West Wales live their lives
free from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, and that their rights are protected,” she said.
