Calan DVS Service Update
In light of the announcement made on Monday 19th October by Welsh Governments First Minister Mark Drakeford, we would like to provide an update on the Calan DVS service provision in light of the fire breaker lockdown measures, which will come into place from 6pm Friday 23rd October until the 9th November 2020.
Guidelines have been issued on the Welsh Government website which indicate that people can leave home under a number of conditions, including;
- To attend court or meet other legal obligations.
- To escape a risk of illness or injury, such as for victims or people at risk of domestic abuse.
- To access services provided to victims of crime or domestic abuse or those at imminent risk of becoming victims.
You can read the full guidelines here.
As from Monday, 26th October, the Calan DVS teams will re-instate a number of the procedures that were introduced during the initial lockdown back in March of this year. This will involve staff working from home with the exception of refuge staff and those staff who will provide essential face to face support for high risk victims of domestic abuse.
As before, remote 1-2-1 support will be available for victims and their families via online platforms or over the phone (see numbers below). Calan will continue to hold face to face, 1-2-1 appointments for those who are high risk, new referrals and essential appointments and those who are accessing our accommodation provision.
Online groups programmes, like the Freedom Programme, will continue to run over this lockdown period. Unfortunately, we will not be able to deliver our community-based programmes during this time and they will be put on hold until w/c 9th November as a result of the Fire Breaker. Our teams where possible will offer online options for this interim period.
We would like to take this opportunity to reassure everyone that our team of committed and passionate staff will continue to deliver the much needed services across each of our delivery areas as efficiently and effectively as possible within the new guidelines issued this week.
If you or anyone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, you can contact a member of our team on any of the numbers below or call the Welsh Government’s Live Fear Free Helpline 0808 80 10 800.
