Welsh Women’s Aid

Welsh Women’s Aid is the national charity in Wales working to end domestic abuse and all forms of violence against women. The charity is a federation of specialist organisations in Wales (of which Calan are members and working as part of a UK network of services) that provide lifesaving services to survivors of violence and abuse – women, men, children, families – and deliver a range of innovative preventative services in local communities.

Platform – Young People State of Mind project

State of Mind is a Wales-wide project that works with young people between the ages of 17 and 25. The project is funded by Welsh Government and uses a combination of strategies to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
These include:

  • peer support groups
  • courses and workshops teaching skills for wellbeing
  • 1:1 support (when needed)
  • volunteering opportunities
  • the opportunity to become a peer mentor, with accredited training.

The Respect Phoneline is a confidential helpline, email and webchat service for perpetrators of domestic violence looking for help to stop. They help male and female perpetrators, in heterosexual or same-sex relationships. Partners or ex-partners of perpetrators, as well as concerned friends and family and Frontline Workers are welcome to get in touch for information, advice and support.
