Refuge

At Calan DVS we have 5 refuges across South, Mid and West Wales covering; Neath, Powys and Ammanford.

This emergency accommodation can be accessed any time, day or night, 365 days a year.

The emergency accommodation offered by Calan DVS is designed as temporary, safe places for women and for women with children. The aim is to offer support in an immediate crisis, access support, and consider all options in a safe and supported environment.

There is always someone to offer you support and advice, whenever you need it.

The Calan DVS refuges provide an environment that is safe and compassionate, giving women the time and opportunity to make decisions about their futures and access our specialist support staff. We provide 1-2-1 emotional and practical support and there is always someone to offer you support and advice, whenever you need it. This 1-2-1 support includes:

Calan can also support you to return home if it is safe to do so. If you wish to return home we can, in partnership with other organisations, try and provide you with better security at your home address.

We recognise that you may not wish to leave your home and we can support you in making informed choices about your safety options.

Who can access refuge accommodation?

Women who are experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse are able to access refuge services with or without children.

How can refuge accommodation be accessed?

It is important to remember that in any emergency you must call 999.

Calan’s emergency accommodation can be accessed 24/7, 365 days a year.

Move on

This type of accommodation when available, is suitable for women who feel ready and safe enough to move on from our shared accommodation into our self-contained units. You will continue to receive 1-2-1 support, however, this type of changeover accommodation will provide you with the opportunity to reduce the support and, in partnership with your support worker prepare you for the next stage of your recovery journey and your new tenancy.
